We identify landowners in low-income areas and co-create a building plan tailored to community needs.
Community-led housing that upgrades living conditions, protects dignity, and creates permanent value for families in Kibera.
Mtaa Fivestar is a smart housing initiative that partners with landowners to develop modern, affordable homes that improve living standards in underserved urban communities in Kenya.
We do not just build structures. We build livelihoods, restore dignity, and create long-term economic assets for families and communities. Operating in Kibera, our work has already impacted over 500 families through local job creation, improved housing, and a community-owned development model.
Funded by the Livelihood Impact Fund, each project is guided by the belief that sustainable housing should generate value without excluding the communities it serves. We also partner with Start Somewhere to integrate innovative, low-impact building methods that support more efficient and sustainable urban construction.
We do not just build homes. We create wealth by combining sustainable construction with a community-owned transfer model.
We identify landowners in low-income areas and co-create a building plan tailored to community needs.
We finance and construct a ground floor plus two upper floors using eco-certified, sustainable materials sourced through Start Somewhere.
Rental income from the upper floors repays our construction investment over time. Landowners carry zero financial risk throughout.
Once the investment is fully recovered, complete ownership of the building transfers permanently and unconditionally to the landowner.
